Dr. Karen Power received a first class honour BSc degree from NUI Maynooth, Ireland in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics in 2005. Subsequently she completed a PhD in Cancer Biology and Therapeutics at the Conway Biomolecular & Biomedical Institute, University College Dublin (UCD) and then moved to the UD-Centre for Food Safety in 2010 as a postdoctoral researcher. Karen provides leadership in analytical and bioinformatics methodologies related to on-going genome and transcriptome sequencing projects. Dr. Power has experience both working with and processing large volumes of prokaryotic gene data through projects involving genome assembly, polymorphism detection and differential expression.
