Workshop Description
CFS Hygienic Design Certification
This workshop will take place at the CFS Institute North America
This blended learning pathway builds and strengthens your knowledge of hygienic design. Becoming CFS Hygienic Design Certified strengthens your professional credibility and sets you apart as a leader in food safety and operational excellence.
For food manufacturers, applying hygienic design principles improves Sanitation assurance, safeguards food safety, and drives operational excellence. Program Structure
- In-Person Workshop: 2.5-day hands-on Hygienic Design Training at the CFS Institute North America (Thursday, July 23 1pm – Saturday, July 25 4pm)
- Classroom Topics (roughly 1/3 of training):
- Introduction to Hygienic Design
- Introduction to Hygienic Principles of Equipment Design
- Introduction to Hygienic Principles of Infrastructure Design Hygiene Zoning
- Utilities from a Food Safety Perspective
- Managing the Business of Hygienic Design
- Rotating Hands-on Breakouts (roughly 2/3 of training)
- Breakout 1: Design It Yourself Facility
- Breakout 2: Hygienic Principles of Equipment Design
- Breakout 3: Hygienic Principles of Infrastructure Design
- Online Learning: Self-paced modules, with support from CFS Food Safety Specialists. Apply knowledge through an online case simulation and define personal growth actions. (Post-IAFP 2026, at your own convenience)
- Recertification every three years keeps skills current.
