Workshop Description
Sanitation verification is a critical component in ensuring the effectiveness of cleaning and hygiene programs across the food industry. This symposium will provide an in-depth, hands- on exploration of best practices, regulatory requirements, and innovative technologies shaping the future of sanitation verification.
Speakers from government, industry, academia, and solution providers will share valuable insights on validation strategies. A key feature of this workshop will be practical, hands-on experience with representative validation technologies and equipment, giving participants the opportunity to directly apply what they learn.
Attendees will gain knowledge of both well-established strategies and emerging trends designed to strengthen sanitation programs and improve food safety outcomes. This workshop builds upon, and provides a more detailed extension of the current IAFP Demystifying Dry Cleaning workshop. Based on participant feedback from this dry- cleaning workshop we created this program to place greater emphasis on regulatory expectations and hands-on experience with different validation tools. The morning Regulatory Perspectives session will focus on regulatory and auditing expectations for sanitation verification. Dr. Eric Stevens, Hygiena Scientific Affairs will lead this initiative.
Industry case studies for Implementing Technology Driven Sanitation verification will be covered by Deb Smith (Vikan) and Joe Baumert (FARRP).
The afternoon Hands-On Session will focus on Supplier Solutions for Verification and Validation and will cover all aspects of sanitation validation and verification, including:
- Swabbing techniques
- Visual inspection best practices
- Hands-on use of products from various suppliers, including ATP, general protein, and lateral flow detection technologies
- Software solutions for sanitation verification data management
By the end of this symposium, participants will leave with practical skills, a deeper understanding of regulatory expectations, and a toolkit of innovative approaches to enhance their sanitation verification programs.
