Affiliate Member Education Award

Awarded to the Affiliate contributing to the education of its members during the year prior to submission with an education program of technical meeting(s), conference(s), webinar(s), workshop(s), classes, or other means pertinent to the interests of its membership with regard to food protection/safety. The award consists of a framed certificate.

Selection Method and Criteria

Affiliate Awards Selection Committee Members for each award will consist of the Chair, Past Chair, and Secretary of the Affiliate Council. Selection Committee Members will recuse themselves from reviewing and judging submissions from their respective Affiliate, with a former Affiliate Council Chair to be selected to serve as an alternate judge.

The Selection Committee will judge: 1) a submitted educational meeting, webinar, workshop, or class program agenda and other supporting materials for their educational value; 2) number of people attending educational meeting(s)/webinars/workshops/classes; 3) awards provided to students or young professionals (e.g., scholarships, competitions, recognition); and 4) a brief explanation (500 words or less) submitted on Attachment B of the Affiliate’s Annual Report of the educational benefit of the program for the Affiliate’s membership, especially students and young professionals in the field of food safety. The submission should include more than a single type of educational event (e.g., an Affiliate’s educational activities could include both a conference and a webinar). Supporting materials could be a flyer, brochure, or other document(s) that includes background/objectives of the program, the target audience, presentation/activity titles, speakers’ names and affiliations, and/or brief biographic or presentation summaries. Please do not submit copies of entire Power Point slide presentations.
